1. Introduction

Vegalabs ("we", "us", "Vegalabs") respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the website vegalabs.no and the app Ta Førerkortet (the "services"), why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using our services, you consent to the processing described here.

2. Data controller

Vegalabs is the data controller for the personal data collected through the services. If you have questions about how we handle your data, you can contact us through the contact form.

3. Information we collect

We collect as little as possible — only what's needed for the services to work well. This may include:

  • Usage data: which practice questions and topics you use, progress, mock exam results, and settings in the app.
  • Device and technical information: device type, operating system, app version, a unique device or installation ID, and crash reports.
  • Account information: if you create an account, we may store your email address and a pseudonymous user ID.
  • Purchase information: in-app purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of the purchase, but not full card details.
  • Information from the website: basic, anonymized traffic statistics (e.g. page views) when you visit vegalabs.no.
  • Contact form: if you write to us through the form on vegalabs.no, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. We use it to answer you, and nothing else.

4. How we use the information

We use the information to:

  • Deliver and improve the core features of the services, such as practice questions and progress tracking.
  • Personalize content, for example by suggesting topics you should practice more.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and fix technical errors and crashes.
  • Communicate with you about important changes to the services.
  • Comply with legal obligations, including those related to purchases and accounting.

We never sell your personal data, and we don't use it for third-party targeted advertising.

We process personal data based on:

  • Contract: processing necessary to deliver the service you've requested.
  • Legitimate interest: for example troubleshooting, security, and improving the services.
  • Consent: where required by law, for example for certain cookies.
  • Legal obligation: when we must retain information to comply with legal requirements, e.g. accounting rules.

6. Sharing information with third parties

We only share information with third parties when necessary to deliver the services, and always under controlled agreements. This includes:

  • Sub-processors: e.g. hosting, analytics, and crash-reporting providers, who process data only on our instructions. Messages sent through the contact form are received and stored by our website host, Netlify, before they reach us.
  • App platforms: the Apple App Store and Google Play, which process purchases and downloads under their own privacy terms.
  • Legally required disclosure: if we're legally required to disclose information to public authorities.

7. Cookies and tracking

The vegalabs.no website uses a minimum of cookies — mainly for basic functionality and anonymized statistics on how the site is used. The app may use similar technology (e.g. local storage on the device) to remember settings and progress. You can adjust cookie settings in your browser.

8. Retention and deletion of data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as required by law. If you delete the app or your account, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data within a reasonable time, unless we have a legal obligation to retain it longer.

9. Your rights

Under applicable data protection law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
  • Have information deleted when we no longer have grounds to process it.
  • Object to or restrict certain forms of processing.
  • Receive your data in a structured format (data portability).
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) if you believe we're processing your data unlawfully.

10. Children's privacy

Ta Førerkortet is aimed at people preparing for a driving license, and is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we've received such data without valid parental consent, we will delete it.

11. Data security

We use technical and organizational measures — such as encryption in transit, access restrictions, and regular security reviews — to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. No solution is 100 % secure, but we work continuously to reduce the risk.

12. International transfers

Some of our sub-processors may process data outside the EU/EEA. In such cases, we ensure the transfer complies with applicable data protection rules, including the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when the services or applicable law change. For material changes, we'll notify you through the app or website. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
